The Farmer’s Dog Cookbook was designed to do two things at once: present the pub’s food and classic British recipes clearly and beautifully, while also telling a wider story about British farming, provenance, and the people behind it. The project had to balance storytelling with practical usability, so clarity mattered as much as atmosphere.
The photography art direction was grounded and candid, bringing genuine moments to the story and showcasing the food, staff, chefs, and the Cotswolds landscape. A simple, well-organised layout gave the content a clear rhythm and made the book easy to navigate. Together, these choices made the book feel like a genuine extension of the pub rather than a glossy food object. The cover was designed as an abstract birds-eye view of the land around the pub, tying the whole book back to place.
I worked closely with the Design Director across layout decisions, art direction, final imagery selection, and cover design.
